What are people's experiences / thoughts?

Didn't find your answer?

This thread from 2019 is pretty scathing https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/any-answers/has-anyone-use-start-up-bank..., does anyone have more recent experience? I offer 'all incl' fees and am trying to remove the software cost from my expenses and move it onto the client.

Thanks

Why not look at Mettle (https://mettle.co.uk/), free banking and as part of NatWest it includes access to FreeAgent.

I've had a look, thanks for the tip.

I want to make it easy for them i.e. nothing that they'd consider 'bookkeeping'. But easy for us with them doing the bkpg.

I believe you can produce invoices in the Mettle app, and if you get clients to use Dext to send in their costs, it should be extremely straightforward for most clients.

It's fine for small businesses (one man bands) but I generally don't recommend as I find other accounts/software have more features.

I'm sure, but maybe I dreamt it, that they were going to stop opening accounts (they're not a bank) and start pulling bank feed data instead but I may be mixing them up with someone else!

Are they owned by Sage? I don't think they are...

They are VC backed and Sage may have been one of a cohort of investors

Thank you John - to be fair your response is more complete than mine.

However given that sage already have their fingers in this particular pie, for reasons that are obvious, I would still recommend steering clear.
