RTI Software

Any recommendations?

Didn't find your answer?

Sadly, the RTI software I’ve used for many years, 12 Pay, will not be renewing for 2024/25.  Can anyone recommend a cheap and simple alternative, please?

My requirements are very basic. With three Employer clients only, each employing a sole director only, currently on £758.00/month, plus my own payroll – husband and wife directors, all very straightforward indeed.

You can't get any more "cheap and simple" than HMRC's BPT (Basic PAYE Tools) ... it's free and, not surprisingly, allows you to do everything demanded under RTI.

There are plenty of other options that are better (as in easier to use / more flexible / with better support / and so on), but then they have the cheek to charge for that!

There's a reason that 12 Pay will no longer be a free option (and it's not just the IRIS involvement) ... take a look at https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.12pay.co.uk

Wow
IRIS did not really need to take them out

Simple and relatively cheap for low volumes... try Staffology (it's Iris but - hey). You can automate the DO payruns and probably save more in time cost than the subscription.

Moneysoft is the clear winner by many on AWeb.

Is that you (DKB Accountancy & Taxation) providing one of the testimonials shown on rotation on their site? :=)

But it IS the solution to which IRIS want 12 Pay users to migrate - so definitely worth checking by OP.

Aye... it's me alright! Testimonial from many moons ago. I was one of the earlier ones to sign up (a bit of a guinea pig) and suggested some additional reports etc.

BUT... I'm nothing to do with Iris or Staffology... and actually do very little payroll nowadays either (just legacy clients).

However, it is simple - particularly for small uncomplicated employers, and I quite like it for that reason.

Moneysoft - very easy to learn, easy to use and very reasonably priced. Support is also good though, since covid, they prefer not to answer their phones these days and reply by email instead

Moneysoft for me too, but bizarrely they don't support annual payrolls. No idea why as they're probably the easiest ones to run.

Payroo.

They rescued me when I fell out with Quickbooks desktop many years ago over upgrading the full package, just for the new payroll year. I haven't looked back and I am happy using it for my four or five payroll clients.

Just keep an eye on their pricing. Once you go over 5 active employees per month, Moneysoft is cheaper.

I've used HMRC's free Basic PAYE Tools (BPT) for 10 years for 4 sole-director clients and myself. A bit clunky but it's been bullet-proof, and it's always up to date with legislation/rates changes. And the price is right.
