SA Return foer employment expenses over £2,500

SA return for employment expenses over £2500

Didn't find your answer?

HMRC guidance states if you need to claim employment expenses over £2500 you need to file a Self-Assessment Return

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/send-an-income-tax-relief-claim-for-job-expenses-by-post-or-phone

However, when you come to complete the SA1 there is not a relevant box for this category. I thought there use to be. How do you get around this? Do you just need to fudge it via “Any other info” box?

Wouldn't you add the employment pages (SA102) and complete boxes 17-20? Or am I missing the point?

You'll need a supplementary employment section. Boxes 17 to 20 will be the relevant section.

On the SA1 you'll need to complete the 'any other reason' box, with a relevant date.

I take it that you're not an accountant/tax adviser?

Crosssed with Tom. Looking at it again, I see the Q is about the SA1 to register for self assessment. What Hometing said!
