SA302 and Tax Year Overview discrepancy

TYO showing a different figure

Didn't find your answer?

In two cases recently I have noticed that the Tax Year Overview does not match the SA302. In both cases the Student Loan Repayment has been worked out to the penny on the SA302 but the Tax Year Overview does not include the pence but only a rounded down amount of SLR.

This is causing issues with mortgage lenders who expect that the TYO and SA302 should match exactly.

I have raised this with HMRC online services. Anyone else noticed this?

If when getting the HMRC tax year overview you save the webpage instead of printing it you can right click on the saved page and select edit, then do a find and replace to alter the figure for tax on the tax year overview to match the figure on the SA302.

Another approach would be to tell the lender that if they have the SA302 then the tax year overview is worthless. Particularly since you can edit it to say whatever you like.

May I just remark how crazy it might be to get an "official" form that you can edit to include your own figures ?

It is utterly ridiculous and another botched IT system HMRC have put in place. There is absolutely no reason to have the form work like that, other than it's the easiest way to do it.

Whilst editing the TYO is tempting it really rather undermines the Council of Mortgage Lenders agreement.
I don't want to have to go back to asking for SA302s from the Revenue.

I agree. But there is a lot of thick people making decisions on mortgages.

Once again, it comes down to making sure the boxes are ticked without the need to engage the brain.

Hi, I having problems getting a remortgage due to my SA302 and overview not quite matching. I have saved the webpage but I can see how to find and replace, can anyone help? I can not amend any figures to make them match.
