Sage 50 Cloud Accounts

Losing the will to live

Didn't find your answer?

So, I have spent the last two hours fighting to get access to a Sage instance for a client who is on v.29.2. I have v.28 and v.29 on my computer so I follow the structions to download 29.2 from Sage's website and go to install. Get an error telling me it can't close a service or some such rubbish. I try the steps set out on Sage's website but end up going around in circles and get the same error each time.

In the end I think eff-it, lets just get both Sage versions off my computer and I will start again. But no! Now when I go to the windows Apps and attempt to uninstall either of my v.28 or v.29 Sage installations I get the same error I got when I attempted to upgrade from 29 to 29.2.

Would be grateful for any advice before I start hitting my head against my keyboard.

hopefuly you have sage support - its probably easier giving them a call sipping your tea and letting them remote in to sort

lets just hope when its installed you can get the relevant user access you need - you are on the step that isnt normally a nightmare !!!

That's a good question. I don't personally pay Sage - my clients have that privilege so I wasn't even certain they would support me. The "contact us" part of Sage's website tell me to ensure I have my account number handy when I call which obviously I don't have.

Anyhoo, I managed to uninstall v.28 then did a "repair" on v.29 which then let me uninstall it so I have installed v.29.2. Now just wondering who to charge these three hours to?

Why my clients pay for this rubbish is beyond me.

I'm really sorry but the only advice I've got is you can reach the Samaritans on 116123.

This was precisely the reason I banned Sage50 from our Office (that and the ridiculous 'bookkeepers' subscription they added to our bill).

Hope you can get it sorted

I had to install v29 on a separate computer as it just wouldn’t install on my main one. Seemed to be something clashing with the other versions of Sage on there and preventing it fully loading.
Really, really irritating.

Funnily enough I had a spare laptop out and I was about to go down that route, angrily asking myself if I really had to have a separate computer just to run Sage. Really, really irritating when all I want is a dump of the TB, Nominal activity, last VAT return and aged debtors & creditors. I then transfer this data into a proper accounting system called Microsoft Excel where I prepare the accounts.

Yes, I was short on time so couldn’t faff around any longer and took the quickest option. I will try again though and contact Sage support if it won’t load - I just need to wait for a nice quiet day when I don’t already feel frazzled before I start!

If you type 'Services' in the 'Type here to search' box, you should be able to the 'Services' app. You may be able to manually shut down the service causing the problem.
I do not have Sage on my PC (cloud accounting only!) and cannot test so this is just a speculative suggestion.

Thanks for your suggestion, thankfully I managed to fix it without much further agro.

The irony though is that the so-called Sage 50 "Cloud" Accounts is anything but cloud.
