Sage 50 v20, Windows 10 and email problem

Unable to output emails to Outlook

Didn't find your answer?

A client is running Sage 50 2014 (v20) and has recently changed their computer which is running Windows 10 (previously on Windows 7). They are using Office 365.

It has proved impossible to output sales invoice emails to Outlook. It is necessary for them to go to drafts as some need to be tailored before being sent out. It is possible to send via webmail but these are sent immediately and cannot be tailored, it has also proved unreliable and there is no record of what has been sent outside of Sage.

I know it is an old version of Sage. However I have the same version on my computer which is running Windows 10 and the very latest release of Office 365 and it works fine at outputting emails to Outlook’s Draft box. So it can be done.

The wrinkle may lie in the fact that the I run Sage Client manager and also have v19 and v21 available as well as v20. However those are all old versions and I would be surprised if that made a difference.

Email settings, invoicing settings and the Report Designer email defaults as well as the settings in the specific template all seem OK.

Has anybody else come across this issue and been able to solve it?

May be on the track of something here. Have just discovered that someone has installed the 64 bit version of Office 365 instead of the 32 bit version. Seem to recall that Sage has never worked with the 64 bit version.

Paul, I think that is the problem. We've had the same issue with Sage Pay and emailing with a 64 bit version of Office. Broke our hearts! Moved to Brightpay in the end.

Thanks Cardigan - we'll find out on Monday when the 32 bit version will be reinstated.

My client is currently thinking about moving to Brightpay from Sage payroll. How have you found it? Any downsides? My client's staff keep finding excuses not to change!
