SAGE aquires AutoEntry, downhill from here?

SAGE aquires AutoEntry, downhill from here?

Didn't find your answer?

SAGE aquires AutoEntry, downhill from here?

Taxfiler/IRIS...........

I'm beginning to wish i'd stuck with VT all along as I would have done if not for the initial plan not to support MTD.

I agree that the cloud stuff brings it's own benefits but costs are mounting and only going one way....................

I wish these big companies would [***] off buying up all of the good software!

Yes my thoughts exactly, Sage is by far the worst software and the worst support of all the various softwares we deal with.

My own heart sank when I got the triumphant news from Autoentry. I presume Sage will now provide them with a bit of cash, but not enough to support all the grand propositions we'll get in future.
On the plus side, if Sage can get Line 50 better adapted to take downloads from AE that would be a good thing for my Sagebound clients.
So I'm not as terrified as if Iris had bought them out, but still concerned.
The whole world is consolidating, so we shouldn't be surprised.

Nothing too surprising here - mature products in a maturing market and a once progressive leader in need of a quick fix to catch up again. More acquisitions like this will come over the next few months and years.

The interesting thing to take note of is - will the acquisition spree that ensues reflect the software market of the 90s and 00s and close off platforms to competitors, resulting in stagnation, or will they stay open to all in this more enlightened age bearing in mind the barriers to change provider are as low as they've ever been...

Sales reps at Sage are going to be hammering the phones again, just like they did pre MTD!

The fixed pricing from RB is no brainer if they start messing around with price hikes as AE is already expensive once you get a few people on it.

Probably a good move from Sage as for me they should park there cloud stuff and just focus on keeping Line50 current, with bank feeds that actually and better integration with apps.

I guess lot of people still get up and go to work at a fixed location so there will be a lot of Sage users still who will be migrating away one by one due to the lack of development.

In my FD the company I worked used Sage but although there is huge amount add ons Sage never pushed the 3rd parties. You had to go and seek them out.

The invoicing add on we used cost £30k per year but I had to seek it out myself as sage never suggested that there was a such a solution in place.

Getting invoices into sage quickly is a big issue so if they could get AE to work better with it than it does currently that would be a big step for LIne50

An organisation the size of Sage should not find it impossible to progress in more than one area at once.

I would think, however, that it they stopped developing cloud that would indicate that they will gradually fade away as a business. SaaS has so many advantages from the perspective of providing a cost effective quality service (particularly for smaller organisations without their own technical support) that Sage have no choice but to progress in that direction.

It's very difficult to find good software for those of us wishing to avoid the big boys... what a shame another has gone to the dark side.
