Sage Bank Feeds Failure

Sage bank feeds not downloading anymore for more than one client

Didn't find your answer?

I just wondered if anyone else is having problem with sage bank feeds at the moment.  It seems strange that one of my clients bank feeds stopped at a certain date mid month and no more transactions will come in, and another client, the feeds have only come into a different certain date in the month.

IIworked on these same files on the same machine last month without problem.

I am on the latest version and it is fully updated and haven't had any problems such as this before, other than if I have taken the back up to a different machine where you need to verify it again.

They say it may take a few days to look into it for me.

If the system does not use open banking, but does use screen scraping it may have been switched off by regulation.

Hi
Thanks for the info.

Do you know if this means I would

-have to get a letter signed for Sage to set it all up again,
or
-is it simply a case of clicking for an email to be sent with a code, as you do when you use the back up on another machine?

Its really a question for Sage. I can get bank data from a large number of UK banks (over 60 endpoints) using Open Banking. Hence I know how that works. However, I don't know how Sage works.

Hi Carolynne,

Which Sage software are you using, e.g. Sage Business Cloud Accounting, Sage 50cloud Accounts, etc?

Which bank are you using Bank Feeds with?

Do you receive any errors when trying to import transactions?

Once I have this info I’ll investigate this further for you.

Hello Paul

Sage are already looking into it, I am using Sage Business Cloud Accounting and the two main clients affected are with RBS and Nat West.

I phoned Sage in March when the new banking information was sent out, and was told my clients would not be affected. So I have carried on as normal. Only now have I discovered that they are off. There are no errors, just no downloads coming in.

If I have to now re-apply from scratch, it will take a while, and meantime, I am now going to have to take a longer time dealing with the bank reconciliations for these companies, so I do hope they can come back to me and tell me all is well.

I have phoned them back today, and thus far been told, at some point they were switched off, then switched back on again but to wait until I hear from the technical team to see if I need to re-apply with them no longer downloading.

If this is the case, I know from when I first received bank feeds from these two banks, they only provided feeds from the current date they were switched on, so a laborious job for me prior to this potential new date could be in the offing.

There is an interesting point about which different financial institutions will provide what amounts of information. In theory you should be able to get information backdated by about 90 days through open banking. I am pretty certain that Natwest (the new name for RBS as well) provide backdated information that way.

The point about the open banking interface, however, is that your clients need to use their online banking facilities to authorise access to the data (every 90 days). I haven't studied the details of all the different ways in which different banks do this, although I do know that screen scraping (not using the OAuth system) is being switched off by regulation - it sounds quite likely that this is behind your situation.

Thanks for the update Carolynne.

RBS and Nat West are both compatible with Direct Bank Feeds. Neither are showing as having any current issues on our Bank Feeds Status page http://ow.ly/rWTp50AR6go

You can run through the steps in this guide http://ow.ly/iakT50AR6gp to troubleshoot and resolve issues with new transactions not downloading, however as our Tech Support team are already looking into this particular incident for you, I recommend that you hold off on these steps for now and await further advice from our Tech team. However, you can run through these steps if you ever have similar issues again.

Please feel to reach out to me if you have any other queries.
