SAGE in the Cloud - is it working yet?

Didn't find your answer?

We are using SAGE 50c on a server with Server Essentials 2012 R2 which is no longer supported by SAGE.  The performance is getting worse and a few strange things are happening.  So we are planning to move the data onto a fast PC running software which is supported by SAGE and point the other users to that.  This may also (apparently) allow us to use SAGE Drive to access the data remotely.  I know it is not Cloud proper but believe it is supposed to do the same thing.  There have been a lot of problems with SAGE Drive and I am trying to find out if they have been resolved yet.  Can anybody reassure me that it is working?  Has anyone tried this approach and can share their experiences?  Many thanks.

Best of luck with Sagedrive. The last of my clients who used it has moved to another supplier's software. I believe that Sage never put enough time and money into their programming and that's particularly the case with Sagedrive. The aggravation and upset to the poor bookkeeper convinced me it will never get fixed.

Thank you. That was certainly our experience 18 months ago!

Sage Drive has been working brilliantly for me for the past year. I can immediately see transactions others are posting, can see who is active on the system, make corrections, submit VAT returns, fix corrupted data and restore backups. The only thing I haven't attempted and will need to do on-site is run year end.

sage drive is great and very frustrating at the same time.

when it works it does exactly what you hope it would do - i have even run a year end remotely not realising i wasnt meant to do this

ok when it doesnt work it is very frustrating - i think though that if you have a techy (not tetchy!) enough person as main user who can easily do the necessary resets and associated sorting of issues i am guessing then that simply following the necessary reset procedues should ensure that access is restored if it is ever lost.

I would say don't believe sage when they say the green online button is foolproof - i did year end journal batch whilst online for sage to tell me 3 months later when i logged back in that they had had temporary glitch which explained why the system lied to me - if this happens once i suspect it could happens again.

Certainly until you know its bulletproof always presume that your latest transactions may not be updating on the main server and do relevant manual checks at important times !

Thank you. Do you still have to re-install the whole caboodle when it needs resetting?
