Sage Line 200/500

Sage Line 200/500

Didn't find your answer?

We are currently using Line 100 and have been approached with a view to upgrading to line 200/500 (same product, with different licensing, apparently). We are a manufacturer and need something to process our works orders, which are on an ageing bepoke system at present, plus have more control of stock, etc..

Does anyone have any experience of using this product. I have picked up a couple of comments, which seem to be worrying.

Any views from the community would be welcome and I thank all respondents in anticipation of their comments..!(Nice, aren't I)

Try Swan
My understanding is that Line 200 and Line 500 are the "Sage Enterprise" range.

Although these are all badged under the "Line" series, in fact Line 200 and Line 500 were originally written by Tetra and were originally Tetra Legend and Tetra CS/3. Sage took over Tetra around 1999.

So they are not the same product as Line 100, although Tetra had a good reputation in its day.

If you are a manufacturer and coming from Line 100 the obvious company to look at is Swan, who built a very good reputation in mid-range manufacturing on the back of Sage Line 100 financials. Here's some bumf from their site:

"Broad-based ERP for Sage Line 100 users"
"infor:32 has been installed in over 400 UK SMEs across all types of manufacturing styles and products. It provides a robust and assured solution and is closely integrated with the popular Sage Line 100 modular accounting package - which is multi-currency and multi-company."

They have been taken over by a German company and are now called Infor:Swan. Tel: 01684-296050. My contact was Mr Doug Miles

I wouldnt
Andrew,

To give you some background Line 200/500 are what used to be Tetra CS/3 before Sage bought Tetra. The interface has been updated but compared to similar products it's still very dated. It's also very long winded to use in some places, and it's not very Windows friendly.

If it were my money I'd look at Navision, Access have a good manufacturing solution called Madisun, and there's a few more that might be useful to you depending on how far down the line you need to go with Works Orders, Planning Schedules, MRP, Routing etc.

Give me a call on Friday if you'd like to discuss in more detial.

Look at Opera II
I would look at Opera II and Operations II from Pegasus to handle your manufacturing requirements. There are data conversion routines to assist moving the data and Pegasus are running a summer promotion of up to 65% discount for Sage Line 100 users at the moment.

Still using Sage?
Hi Andrew,

Did you ever get this sorted out? Sage 200 Manufacturing is about to launch and IS the latest version of MMS (which replaced Line 100), rather than Line 200 (no longer available) or Line 500 Enterprise Solutions which were/are very much a step from Line 100.

email me on [email protected] if you're still looking.
