I just had a call from Sage to say that we need to renew our Sage Cover for our payroll system and I wondered whether people think we need Cover Extra or not?
We have a 3 company, multi-user licence for less than 50 employees. All 3 companies have fairly basic set ups and we don't need anything complicated but find the Sage Cover useful for the legislation updates and rate changes every year.
The basic Sage Cover is £500 +VAT but he said we would need to have a system upgrade to the latest version, in order to be up to date ready for RTI next year, which would cost an extra £350 +VAT.
So he was pushing the Extra cover for £825 +VAT which includes the system upgrade but all I'm wondering is - do we really need the new software? Will 2011 be able to cope with the new RTI requirements? Can I get away with paying just the £500 +VAT???
I may just be being tight but I am just a little bit apprehensive about what the Sage guy was telling me, given the fact that he is really just selling a product... Any help would be greatly appreciated as always.
