Dear all,

I have an antiques dealer client who is finding the manual bookkeeping a cumbersome process and would like to automate. He is keen on using a cloud system if possible. I have tried to find  bookkeeping software that can cope with the second-hand margin scheme as the vat return is one of the processes he is particularly keen to automate, but so far I have had no luck. Does anyone know of any software that can deal with the second-hand margin scheme and ideally isn't too complicated?

Or, please advise if you think he is better to carry on using his excel bookkeeping system.

I had already done a search before posting and come across that post but some of that information is out of date now. (links etc). I was hoping someone may have come across something in the last couple of years.

Thanks BigBadWolf , I have scoured the internet and asked around but I haven't found much either. I will have a look at the above and see if it is any better than the spreadsheet system he already uses.

VAT Second hand Scheme

Money Manager from Moneysoft (www.Moneysoft.co.uk) will handle VAT S/Hand Scheme no problem and is a doddle to use as is their Final Accounts, as well as their Payroll program being probably the best value for money Payroll program going, these days. Online filing is never a problem with y/e returns etc.

Thanks Abacjm - I'll have a look into this, I use monesoft payroll already which I think is great, so hopefully this will be too.

the problem, as you are probably aware, is accounting for the vat on sales, so in all the cases I looked at , a manual stockbook will still need to be kept. I think my client was going to order one of the easybookkeeping spreadsheets to see if it made his life any easier.
