Self Assessment Grant

Didn't find your answer?

Hi guys,

Got afew clients that have only had a self assessment for 19/20 and were PAYE the year before. Problem is that the grant is based on previous years and doesn't take into account 19/20 by default.

whats the best approach? If HMRC are contacted, will they make these people elegible? If not, then they don't get anything which is not good.

Thanks guys.

Best aproach. Nothing. They are not eligible. There is no work around. It is what it is.

I'm afraid they are in one of the groups that fall through the gaps in the available schemes being offered, I suspect they would be told to claim universal credit.

Definitely ineligible now, and that's horribly unfair. I have been advising those who fall into this category to submit for 19/20 asap. If there are future rounds of SEISS, which gets more likely by the day, there could be movement on this.
