Self Assessment Tax Overviews 2021

Didn't find your answer?

Finding some client's tax overview's are not showing their tax position for 2021.

Spoke to HMRC this morning regarding this.

Advisor on the phone advised that returns that contained SEISS income are not yet being captured and expect these to be done by the 5th July according to their "guidance", therefore the tax calculations are not showing up on tax overviews.

I advised that I have clients which received the grants and declared them and have received refunds/ paid liabilities but they are unable to give further guidance.

Seems to be they are checking some returns which contained SEISS income, I have clients that need their tax overviews as they are going for mortgages etc advised this and they said its not essential and will have to wait to the date given.

Anybody else able to give any guidance or encountered this issue?

Thanks

Yes I am well aware of the thread as I replied to it.

I have rang and HMRC and advised the guidance given and stated it in the OP.

That thread just ask's why they aren't uploading.

Your reply was very helpful :)

When they do start 'capturing' the SEISS in July will the system pick up SEISS on all returns submitted to date? Are we likely to need to resubmit the returns?

I vote no, nothing to re-submit. If HMRC can't handle tax that's the Treasury's problem. The taxpayer has met their legal obligation.

Much the same as HMRC insisting employers submit amended RTIs when the original was correct to fix HMRC system issues. I generally said "No" to that, too, and told them to fix their own failings.

HMRC telephone people have no idea what is going on
As per other threads HMRC ARE ARE ARE dealing with tax returns with SEISS declared and repaying overpaid tax. ALL MINE DONE SO FAR
BUT as always some are put on hold, As always the computer decides and the humans do not know how the computer was set up, as always and as always make up a story
There are no magic dates
