Self Employed

Advice

Didn't find your answer?

I have a client who work in entertainment sector and due to current situation, she is unable to work. She is working since 2014 and all her tax returns are up to date. She is paying her taxes on time.

now that she is out of work, she asked me that she want to apply for govt. grant for self-employed and want to know

1) if she apply for universal credit, will the grant be effected with that?

2) she has up to date tax return for 16/17, 17/18 and 18/19. The avg of three years will be based on these income tax returns or does she has to submit for 19/20 tax return and avg will be calculated including 19/20 tax return.

Out of work ? Is she not resting ?

1. As I read it, no. But we don't know for sure as there are no rules yet.

2. It'll be 2016-19 whether or not she submits her 2019/20 return.

Your 'client', eh? I doubt that somebody with such poor written English is really an accountant. Why the need for anonymity?

As has already been suggested, UC shouldn't affect any Self-employed claim, which will be based on average income for the three tax years ending 5.4.19...... 2019/20 won't come into it.
