self employed NI

Client first time self Emp. Profit £6,500 = no tax but will need to pay £149+ in class 2.

Didn't find your answer?

With this income no tax but class 2 NI.

Does this mean a full year NI towards contribution history and registered automatically through SA

Dunno - when did he start trading ? It's the key point missing from your question.

He'll need to pay Class 2 for the weeks during which he was self employed.

No he won't automatically be registered - he needs to register himself. HMRC won't know he's self employed until he tells them.
