Self employed person leasing an electric car

Self employed person leasing an electric car

My question is based on a self employed person leasing an electric car. I assume they can claim their business mileage but at what rate? I can't seem to find the relevant on HMRC's website. Also - I'm assuming they can claim back the business proportion of the lease cost? Thanks in advance.

Mileage is the same whatever the fuel 45/25p a mile.

You can't claim mileage and some or all of the costs of the vehicle. It's one or the other.

Thank you. I’m surprised you can claim such a high mileage rate given how cheap it is to run an electric car. Am I right in thinking you can claim the business proportion of the lease cost too? Thanks

As I said .... "You can't claim mileage and some or all of the costs of the vehicle. It's one or the other." That includes the lease of the car.

Take into account the cost of that electric vehicle and 45p a mile may not be as good a deal as it first appears.
