setting up a payroll company

Hi I am currently setting up a payroll company.. I wanted to ask if it was difficult in getting clients? I have over 10 years experience and wanted to know if it was easy to approach firms to outsource their payroll. Any guidance would be much appreciated

As it happens, I am considering outsourcing the payroll of a new self employed business that has just started hiring staff. I am undecided whether to outsource or use the free software listed on the HMRC website (12Coud, etc). There are currently 2 employees, both on zero hours contracts, neither of whom earns more than £116 per week. Not yet set up a PAYE scheme. What would you advise?

Good started for 10 - see what the OP is made of.

I wouldn’t recommend the free software, I would use either Moneysoft or Bright Pay.. at the moment you don’t need to set up a scheme but the pension staging date begins from the day you employ your first staff member and even though they will be non eligible they still need to be aware of the scheme and offered the choice to opt in. Payroll used to be so simple but with RTI and pension it has become very time consuming. If you need any assistance please don’t hesitate to contact me

Yes, although your thoughts are probably on the right lines. IMO it’ll be harder to get a practice to outsource than get a stand-alone client, but when you do the rewards will be significantly better and worth it.

Yeah I agree but I think a lot more accountants are now seeing that payroll needs more time and whereas a bookkeeper managed the payroll part time dependent on the size of the company they may need someone full time to stay compliant

I just am unsure with the vast number of companies doing this whether I will be able to gain clients individually or through accountants and what your advice on doing this may be?
