Setting up online access to HMRC data in Taxfiler

Trying to pull in client data into Taxfiler from HMRC

Didn't find your answer?

I have tried setting up online access to HMRC through Taxfiler. I had to go through extra security with HMRC to do this and provide passport details etc but the link seems to have set up fine. However when I try to donwload data for a client I get the message 'You do not have authorisation to view this information for this client'. I do have client authorisation in place with HMRC and can view them perfectly well through the HMRC online agent account. Has anyone else had this issue with Taxfiler and how did you resolve it? I know that only 2017 data is available at the moment but the 2018 data will be available soon and I would like this to work.

I had the same problem and someone gave me this advice "Cancel your authorisation in the Settings Pages (Diasable access to HMRC data) and reauthorise (2SV)."

It worked for me.

Ditto, though I think you will find that a lot of HMRC systems have not yet updated for 2017-18 and there's only data for 2016-17 at the moment

That would explain why there's the square root of b*gger all when I query it!

I have tried disabling it once and reauthorising with HMRC but that didn't resolve it for me.

I'm authorised, but there's no data to pull down in every case I've tried so far, so I wouldn't worry about sorting it as a matter of urgency as you aren't missing much!

I reauthorised again last night as the response is "A record for this UTR could not be located", which I initially read as "We cannot see the the client authorised to you" but actually probably means "HMRC systems are not up to date and there's nothing there"
