shocking....

accountant charged with fraud still in practice???

Didn't find your answer?

For the reasons below we will post this one anonymously.

During our supplier due-diligence we have come across this today:

https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/bills/article-2963777/Four-court-fraud-charges-alleged-copycat-Government-websites.html

https://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/11809404.five-facing-online-fraud-charges/

https://www.accountancydaily.co/sites/default/files/ICAEW-Disciplinaries-Feb-2014.pdf

How people like this can be in public practice and how on earth they've passed Fit and Proper test and ML supervision???

The news stories linked are from 2015 and appear to people being tried, not to them being convicted. Those stories do not say that any of those charged is an accountant.

The ICAEW disciplinary reports linked refer to two separate people breaching regulations on members in practice. In both cases the people were reprimanded and fined, but not excluded from membership. There were no charges directly involving the public and nothing else is mentioned that would question their being "fit and proper".

Mr/s Anonymous - Looking up old news stories isn't usually part of supplier due diligence in any business I have worked in (which has included both financial services and an MoD List X site). What point are you trying to make here?

They were cleared of any wrongdoing by the court.
