Should censorship of this forum be tolerated?

Many comments have vanished recently

Didn't find your answer?

I have been looking at posts over the past few weeks, and have found that many comments, including several of my own, have disappeared. None that were deleted, whether mine or others', were objectionable, unless to a snowflake. It seems the modifiers are deleting almost any comment that criticises the OP. Censorship (Oops! Don't you mean 'modification'?) is something I consider intolerable on any forum, so this is the last post I will make. I will not even bother reading comments in future as I know they have been consored, so I am not being told people's real responses. I recommend you check if your own comments have been deleted. All your comments remain in your profile even if deleted, but if you drill down into them you may well find they have vanished from the thread. After this, you can make your own decision about whether to continue with this forum.

Seriously??

I've better things to do with my time than check my posts on Aweb.

It's their site and they're quite within their rights to delete what they want.

I do get the annoyance and am certainly not keen if something I took time and care to write is lost to posterity; thankfully most of my comments here, are glib, off topic retorts which I really doubt posterity will miss.

(I think I have in the past already done the "delete my posts and I will be gone" threat on here, one day that may really be the case and I will follow it through but for now life is too short to get that upset)

You think I post my "real responses"?!

I'd suggest it was probably more banal pruning than censorship, to be completely honest.

Is this a snowflake criticising other snowflakes for being snowflakes?

Only snowflakes complain about their posts being deleted on social media.

Its the essential essence of snowflake.

Goes Goodwin have another law involving this?

I don’t think anyone will be losing too much sleep.

One of my posts was removed recently, but I think because it was caught up in a childish argument the whole of which was removed. Are you sure that your deletions are not also collateral damage? (Don’t know why I’m asking the question if it’s not going to be read.)

I know what you mean. I regularly post well articulated and researched answers that would prove invaluable to the OP, but these are regularly deleted and updated with the drivel you see from me. It's not right I say!

You should see what is done to the comments OPs themselves make.

Shocking.

Their site, their rules. Don't like it, set up your own forum.

I also can never understand these sorts of posts. You are almost certainly not important enough to the site, owners or users, that they will care you are going. What were you hoping to achieve? (a question that will only be answered if the OP goes back on their declaration they won't read any more comments)

Well in my case they would lose about 25% of each day's nonsense posts- I have been considering tapping A Web for payment under the minimum wage rules given the volume of output; I must work through a checklist to see if I properly ought to be considered as an employee!!!

I believe it's called a tantrum. My 2 year old throws them as well. The wife too come to think of it. If ignored they will come back out of it themselves.

No doubt the OP has already created a new login and lurks among us.

Now I'm in a quandary.

Do I ignore (and thus help), or do I note that the ongoing responses apparently answer the final point (

Step, mate, is bang on, for me.

Hi all,

Moderator here. Unfortunately, we had to remove a number of posts from a banned member recently. This meant that several comments responding to those comments had to be removed in order to keep the flow of the thread. Apologies if one of your comments was removed.

Removing comments is always the last resort. On this occasion, we couldn't allow the posts from the banned member to remain on the site. I hope that explains why some of your posts may have disappeared.
