Shutl Ltd VAT input tax

Shutl Ltd VAT input tax

Didn't find your answer?

Hello,

Following on from my earlier post:

VAT on Hermes Parcelnet Limited paid by PayPal

.................I’ve always avoided these ecommerce jobs as it always seems difficult to get any paperwork (digital) particularly VAT invoices.

This client has paid a fair amount to Shutl Ltd who I believe are an Ebay related provider of shipping labels. I assume that these payments include standard rated VAT?

PayPal transaction details show VAT as £0.

Can anyone confirm the position and what they do in relation to these transactions. Do you obtain each VAT invoice (where from?) or simply claim the VAT on the basis that you know the VAT status and VAT invoices can be obtained somehow (I’ve not found out how!) from the various platforms and intermediaries?

I am sure that some will take the approach that VAT should not be claimed without holding a VAT invoice or receipt (even if you know that VAT has been charged), but I am trying to help the client here and maximise any input tax (in the knowledge that a VAT invoice is somewhere in the relevant ‘platforms’ accounts!).

Any guidence from the tech savvy young guns dealing with these ecommerce types would be greatly appreciated by this old boy!

I would contact the supplier, and obtain VAT invoices, if applicable.

Or not claim if not registered.

Same rules apply to ecommerce as they do the high street, or flogging stuff out of the back of a white van.

Hi, agreed and I am well aware of that.

.............the problem is trying to get ebay, paypal and the likes to respond..............it's comparable with getting a decent answer from a call to HMRC.

I'm looking for a practical solution and how others may use technology when high volumes are involved.

Don’t you only need a receipt if VAT > £50?

TBH If I was 100% that VAT was charged I’d claim it, especially if I thought a receipt could be obtained if HMRC investigated.

Shutl provide monthly invoices.

Log in with eBay credentials here:-
https://shipping.shutl.com/invoices

They do have 20% VAT on them, VAT number: 971 4595 87
