SMP submit error

SMP submit error

Didn't find your answer?

Hi all,

On 23rd Sep I submit to claim SMP of Sep. Now I receive a reject error as "The entry in taxmonth of 6 is only valid if the submission is made between 6 August and 19 October inclusive of the related tax year. Please check". I don't know what was I wrong. Please advise. How can I sort it out this problem

Thanks all,

Such as:
* "On 23rd Sep I submit to claim SMP of Sep"
What did you use to submit a claim? And to whom did you send it?
* "Now I receive a reject error as "The entry in taxmonth of 6 is only valid if the submission is made between 6 August and 19 October inclusive of the related tax year. Please check"."
From whom did you receive this 'reject error'? And how did you receive it? And why have you only received it over 2 months after your submission?

Also, who is running your Payroll? If not you, have you asked that person? If it is you, have you considered appointing an experienced person to process it for you?

Hi All,
Sorry for late respond. I used Bright pay software, submitted to HMRC and be rejected a week later. I was recommended by experienced person who said the figure I claimed in Oct would include Sep but Oct was also rejected with the same reason (it is hard I can not find any where from this website I can upload the error picture). Hope this information can make you clearer my case. Thanks a lot.

I don't know whether it's your inability to clearly describe what has happened, or just my difficulty in understanding what you're saying ... but as I said before:
"Who is running your Payroll? If not you, have you asked that person? If it is you, have you considered appointing an experienced person to process it for you?"

Payroll is not rocket science, but the software does need someone with experience to run it effectively - particularly when it generates error/rejection messages.

P.S: although I don't know BrightPay, presumably they provide some sort of helpdesk or support service if you are determined to go it alone.
