software for filing CT600

Any recommendations?

Can anyone recommend something simple and basic, akin to the HMRC free software for the filing of CT600's.  I have looked at Taxfiler and if anyone uses this already can they please tell me their thoughts.  I am not a total technophobe but just hate change and coping with new software and so any recommendations other than Taxfiler would also be helpful.  Thank you.

In a similar vein, I need a package to complete CT600's AND payroll - without breaking the bank, can I find something that can do both?

Thank you

You won't get a good package to do both without spending a fortune, even if there is one.
Go with either Brightpay or Moneysoft for payroll and Taxfiler for the accounts and tax.

Agree with Moonbeam. I use the same two.

As Moonbeam suggests you won't find a package to do both without the costs escalating. Use BrightPay for payroll and would recommend it. Actually use BTC and it’s good (previously with iris) but based on Howard's and everyone’s comments I must take a look at Taxfiler too. Thanks.

There is nothing better than Taxfiler for the charges they make. Not only can it do the tax, it also produces statutory accounts. As it's in the cloud accounts are a lot faster than (dare I say) using VT.
As someone who finds reading instructions a bore, I found it easy to teach myself how to use without any training. It's set up in a very logical way and you'll come to love it. Don't phaff about for a moment longer, just sign up for a trial run and see for yourself.

Taxfiler is cheap.
Not without it's faults.
I have used four different CT600 / XBRL packages in recent years.
Taxfiler appears to have the (unique?) ability to submit a CT600 and not tell you / warn you that it omitted to include the iXBRL accounts. The other three software packages that I've used did not have this shortcoming.
Having said this it was seemingly the easiest of the four software solutions to pick up and use, just a pity that it managed to file a CT600 without warning me that accounts were not attached (other packages used would fail to submit if accounts not attached or at the very list give a warning about omitted iXBRL accounts).

That is certainly not my experience. On the rare occasions that I have forgotten to attach or re-attach the accounts I have received a warning. In fact, Taxfiler would not let me prepare the return for filing without either attaching the accounts or selecting the option to indicate that accounts were not required.

I would recommend Taxfiler whole heartedly, though I agree there is still room for improvement in some areas.

Really can't knock Taxfiler at all for ease of use and the price. After coming from Drummohr Tax Assistant (historically a good programme in itself) I was sceptical but would now recommend Taxfiler all day long for a simple no frills package. Happy days.

Another vote for Taxfiler.
Online software, fixed monthly fee, unlimited returns. Also it can do accounts just with trial balance.
