Software for GP practice book keeping and payroll

Any recommendations for providing GP Practice book keeping/ management accounts and payroll services

Didn't find your answer?

What software would you suggest for providing book keeping, payroll services and management accounts  to GP Practice (doctors) which is a partneship of 3 doctors?

Have you defined your requirements - for example, is there any non-NHS revenue? Is that all cash payments from patients or do you need to manage credit accounts with businesses or health insurers?

Does the main customer have any particular requirements for claiming income (eg fees for administering flu vaccines) that you need to be able to comply with? This may mean that the accounting system has to integrate with the practice management systems.

Have you done a market search already? Given the number of GP practices, this must be a fairly common requirement

Non NHS revenue is minimal. Probably about 2% of the total revenue.
Client does not require system for claiming income as that is done through their NHS software.

From what you say any softwear would do the job, look at Xero or QBO.

Slightly missing the point.

I don't care about the actual answers but you need to consider those points and probably more in software selection. QB is fine small business software but as with any one size fits all product, that size may not actually fit you very well at all.

You pretty much have a choice between modifying an 'out of the box' solution to suit your specific needs, or looking at a specialist system that may integrate with some existing systems. The restriction more than likely being your budget, and how much time you are willing to put into the setup. Both of which you have not shared with us.

As an aside, you only mention bookkeeping, payroll and MA. Are you representing the client in all matters or, are you only carrying out these 3 elements? If the latter, have you liaised with the client's accountants/ tax advisors, to see if theyhave a preference?

Have a look at Iris GP Accounts - this could be viewed as pretty much the industry standard.

Thank you, all.
I am acting as accountant and tax advisor and preparing accounts in Iris from client's excel cash books. Now they want software which produces monthly accounts also.
