Sole trader organizes Adult Recreational Courses

Didn't find your answer?

Sole trader client independantly organizes Adult Recreational Courses, such as Cookery, Arts & Crafts, Dance, Languages etc and engages self employed tutors to provide tuition for the weekly course sessions. She is adamant that her activities are exempt from VAT as they are educational, is she correct? I assumed that she would need to undertake the tuition duties herself to qualify for exemption.

LOL, yes I thought the same, not sure there was any need for the word 'Adult' to be included

The VAT notice is a fairly easy read on this subject:-
