Strange furlough calculation

Moneysoft.

Didn't find your answer?

I'm confused by a furlough calculation in Moneysoft.

Cleaner taken on.  2 weeks @ 16.42 and  1 week @ £8.21   Furloughed week 51 and 52
My calculation is £13.63, theirs is £10.26.

It would appear Moneysoft have calculated 4 weeks where I have calculated 3 weeks.  Started 25th Feb  and paid on 6th, 13th and 20th March before furloughing

If you are sure you are correct and moneysoft is wrong, just ignore their calculation and input your own.

Thanks. I wasn't 100% sure who was right to be honest but having encountered a similar issue on another payroll (see my reply to Suzie) I am happy to go with my calculation, as I can now see how they arrived at theirs.

Not sure how you have a calculation from Moneysoft - have you not installed the update released at the weekend? After the update no calculations are produced. However, before this you could click on the grey box (explanation) on the pay details screen and it showed you how the calculation was arrived at. The default position was to use previous period pay rather than an average so you had to go on the employee record and indicate to use average instead as the calculation method for irregular pay.
But as I said, the calculation was removed over the weekend.

Strange. I updated it this morning and the calculation is when you click analysis then CJRS. It shows 28 Feb pay 19 Mar pay then 2019 average.
I have also noted another payroll where a similar situation has arrived. Employee has 28 pay dates but moneysoft has calculated it as 29. I can only assume this is because they work a week in hand.

Ah - you are still looking at 2019/20 rather than 20/21. It does say in the guide that if you are using average pay you can't take the 2019/20 average report if the employee was furloughed during the year because it includes the furlough pay element which reduces the overall average (have to do it manually). If not furloughed during 2019/20 then presumably the average report will be fine.

The furlough element wasn't included, as I had listed it as an addition and not ticked the box to include it.

This has changed again! There was a second update later yesterday (I did two updates yesterday) and couldn't see any difference but earlier in the day it definitely said you had to do it manually and now you are right, you can exclude the furlough and the guidance has changed yet again. sigh.
