Stripe & Jersey

Business based in Jersey. Stripe will only operate with UK business. Workaround?

Didn't find your answer?

I am a clinical operations consultant. My client currently has a clinic in Jersey.

The practice software uses Stripe to collect payments.

Stripe will not operate in Jersey - must be a UK or R.O.I-registered business.

Currently investigating setting up a UK Ltd company to collect payments via Stripe.

Ideally, funds should be sent back to Jersey for the operational costs of the company plus to pay relevant taxes.

Does the above idea sound feasible and how would the transfer of funds work, minimising UK tax obligations?

Many thanks

If you want international tax advice, you’re going to have to instruct an advisor.

That's an awful lot of workaround! I can't imagine anyone in Jersey minimising their taxes by operating through a UK company - that sounds topsy-turvy.

Wouldn't life be simpler if you were to unhook Stripe from the practice software and use instead a card facility that will work in Jersey! (Or would that mean your missing out on many £thousands in consultancy fees?)

I have a client in Spain that uses Stripe. It only had to be set up with a UK address and UK phone number (mobile was used) The bank account that receives the funds is Spanish and the currency is euro. They are Spanish residents and complete Spanish tax returns.
