Student loan repayments and pension contributions

Under what circumstances do pension contributions reduce student loan repayments

Didn't find your answer?

I cannot find a definitive source of the circumstances in which pension contributions reduce student loan repayments. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply and apologies for the tardy follow up. I believe the answer resides in The Education (Student Loans) (Repayment) Regulations 2009 (29)(4)(j).

It appears that the self-employed enjoy "relief" from student loan repayments by increasing their pensions contributions whereas the employed do not.
