Subcontracting accountancy work

Subcontracting accountancy work

Didn't find your answer?

Can I prepare accounts and sign accountants reports as a subcontractor, where I am appointed by and invoicing another accountancy business rather than the client? Also, where does that leave me in terms of engagement letters etc?

I have been offered some work but as a subcontractor and want to understand how it is going to work before/if I agree.

Subcontract.
As far as the client is concerned, you are a representative of the accountancy business you are subcontracting for. They are the people engaged by the client, not you.

Accountants Report
The set up was going to be one where I sign the accountants report, however, if the other business holds the engagement, then presumably they should be the one signing the reports?

In what capacity?
In what capacity would you be signing?
I can foresee ethical and PI problems if the accountancy business is trading off your qualification.
