submitting SATRs using Tax Filer

submitting SATRs using Tax Filer

Didn't find your answer?

On several apparently random occasions we have submitted tax returns using Tax Filer and have received confirmation of receipt with IR mark etc.

However HMRC are not processing the return as they are saying they have been received as amendments to existing returns. But no previous returns have been submitted.

Is anyone else having this problem?

No - but I haven't submitted any for a month or so.

Is this new ?

More importantly, is the "amended return" box ticked by accident ?

Mine have all gone through ok. I would check per above whether you ticked the amended return box by mistake.

When you go to Review & File it says Amended return before the IR mark. So check this and if it is not this then it must be a problem HMRC’s end.

Unless the taxpayer's HMRC account has been hacked and zillions have been repaid to some scammer.

Not trying to worry anybody, like.......

Oh dear, or the agent’s account.

I have submitted two from Taxfiler today so will check for updates at HMRC in the next few days to see if it is a Taxfiler issue.

Or check the taxpayer's account on the HMRC site to see if a return has been submitted.

We have just received over 20 cases where the returns were filed prior to 31 January, taxfiler had the IRMark attached and we received the email acknowledgment from HMRC the same day. At that point we had no reason to be concerned. The client tab on HMRC website has not updated. HMRC online helpdesk is looking into the problem and Taxfiler say it cannot be their software issue.
How can this possibly happen?
