Tax agent for individual

How do I set it up

Didn't find your answer?

I am having an issue with HMRC PAYE for one of my Ltd Co clients. Although I'm registered as an agent for PAYE this is in connection with him as an individual. HMRC have changed his tax code because they say he has two employments instead of one, wheras the only employment he has is with the Ltd Co. He's coming up against a brick wall so has asked me if I can deal with it for him.

I can't seem to do it from my agent account as he is not (yet) in self assessment. Any suggestions please?

The taxpayer calls HMRC and gives you permission to speak to them and then you call up and ask for the duplicate employment to be removed.

Or a 64-8 with the NI number but will take a while to be processed and you won’t know as won’t appear on your agent list.

Or try and resolve from the employer end - have you switched software and used a different employee id?

Nope, there have been two submissions and I've used MS for years. Client was employed previously and I have entered the P45 details so presumably he won't be on previous payroll still.

I will try your suggestion and hopefully get this resolved. Many thanks

First option that Matrix has suggested usually works. If you can get on the same call with your IT, all the better.

Sounds like switched payroll software and didn't carry over the same employee id or unique identifier. Hmrc assumes two employments. But as others said needs a phone call to rectify.
