Tax Repayment

Where has this been sent?

Didn't find your answer?

I act for elderly lady who received  a tax calculation from HMRC for 2019/2020. A repayment is due to her but hasn't been forthcoming.

The correspondence states that   "we will send a cheque to tax credits".

I have not come across this before and I should be grateful if someone could please shed some light on the matter.

does the client have an outstanding debt with tax credit/pension credit department? If so then the repayment may have been sent to that department to set against the debt.

possibly as the departments did not use to have the facility to transfer funds directly - however if a cheque has been sent to tax credit department there is always a possibility that it will not be matched to the individuals record!
