Tax software Class 2 NI override not showing

PTP Tax Platform not overriding Class " NI Calculation

Didn't find your answer?

Greetings all

Longtime user of PTP tax platform here. Self employed client has made a loss but wants to make Class 2 NI payments.  Normally this is not a problem. I just tick the override option, put in the amount, run the calculation and there it is.  Except today it's not happening.  I've ticked the box, added £158.60 but when I run the calculation it's showing as nil payable.  Software is up to date, I've shut it down and reopened it but no luck.  Am I missing something? I'm at my wits end here.

Grateful for any help.

If you can't sort out the PTP issue, you may need to use HMRC's tax return filing instead as a last resort.

Thanks @Laurence52 and @rmillaree for your suggestions. PTP support desk sorted me out. I hadn't enabled the override in the self employment section. Once I did that everything was fine.

Admittedly it's my fault for forgetting this step, but I can't help thinking that it would have been helpful for a warning box to appear stating that this needed to be done. It would have saved me the time and the stress.

It's where you would least expect it.

When you go into the Self Employment screen, the first tab is "Business Details". Half way down you tick the box saying "Paying Class 2 NI voluntarily". It will appear in the calcualtion.
