Tax Specialist Recommendation

Advice Required

Didn't find your answer?

Can anyone recommed a tax specialist who can advise on CGT and Entrepreneurs' Relief? I'm in Bolton. I've taken on a new client and opened a can of worms which is beyond my general practice experience. I work alone so I've no one to discuss my thoughts with on this matter. The previous accountant is not available to explain their rational for their actions.

You can post on here and so others can post their initial thoughts.

You could try the Tax Advice Network for a tax adviser to talk it through/engage or maybe someone on here will offer.

Alternatively I have got tax opinions from my tax advice line (e.g., QDos Vantage or Taxwise).

I have a monthly subscription with Nichola Ross-Martin, which I find invaluable.
Given your enquiry, the above link may be more useful.

I'd agree with Matrix initially. It'd make a pleasant change to have a genuine question with some degree of complexity from a fellow professional instead of all the freeloaders.

Can recommend Johnstone Carmichael but as they are a Scottish firm doubt they cover your turf. Am currently consulting with a CTA re IHT but he is within a firm of solicitors (shudder) and is also based in Scotland.

My experience is larger firms are no good re this sort of thing, you rarely get access to the guru and you are too small a deal , really small firms have their own issues, mid size firms at the say 20 partner and up level seem to me to have the technical know how and enough clients that they have gained the relevant experience.

Thanks for your replies - I wish I could share with the forum but the details I would need to give are so specific the client would recognise themselves if they saw it.

Will the tax all go away if they pay you 10% of the gain?

I think the jury is still out on that one.
