TaxCalc tax/PM/accounts production

TaxCalc tax/PM/accounts production

Didn't find your answer?

I use TaxCalc for tax returns and it's excellent - does anyone have experience of the Accounts Production software? I won't hear anything against VT as it's excellent but TaxCalc's offering does sound a good alternative with a few different features.

I notice now they're offering Practice Management software too which I guess ties it all together - just wondered what general opinions were?

I haven't tried it

I plan to try out the Practice Management software, but won't be trying the accounts software.

My reasons:

VT Cashbook/Transaction +/Accounts integration is too brilliant and time-saving to give up.VT now files accounts to Co.Hse. Haven't tried it yet, but great feedback on AWeb from other VT users.VT is cheaper, but not sure how pricing for multiple users would compare.

Personally, I think it would be nigh on impossible to get quicker, more user friendly software than VT.

Same as Shirley
Looking forward to trying out the PM solution which should be available to download in the next few days or so

Can't leave VT though :-)

I agree too!

VT is truly excellent, just wondered if anyone had tried the TaxCalc version - seems it has working papers and various other extras - it looks like they offer a trial download too so could be worth a look - as you say, it will be hard to be torn from VT!

Like many others I use VT for accounts and taxcalc for tax returns.

But going to trial taxcalc accounts and PM when it available later in the week/beginning of next week.

Total package is a few hundred £ more expensive that VT which agree is excellent and great value for money but if taxcalc now integrates everything and you can create tracks on your WIP then will save me maintaining on excel which I do the now.

If increases efficiencies then worth the extra cost in my view.

tax calc seems late...

I bought Tax Calc on 30th March last year.

2013 isn't available yet - this is the 4th April.

I've got half a dozen sets of accounts waiting for tax returns so I can clear them off my desk. Not happy!

Didn't you buy the 2011/12

Didn't you buy the 2012 version last year, which you could use for the a/cs

Didn't make myself clear...

Yes, I bought 2012 Tax Calc.

I have now prepared accounts to 31st March 2013 for several sole traders etc.

I need 2013 Tax Calc so I can run off the SA tax returns, get client to sign and then file ASAP on or after the 6/4/13.

Last year I bought Tax Calc 2012 on 30/3/12.

This year I can't buy Tax Calc 2013 as its not available yet.

I've emailed them and they're much more relaxed about this than I am - " next couple of days etc".

Does anyone know if other packages (Digita say) are available now.

TaxCalc Release

Dear all,

I wanted to let you know that we're expecting to release the software later today.

In previous years, we've released the software at the end of March. Whilst we've kept the main return preparation the same (so it's as easy and as slick as ever), we've added many new features in the form of the (free) Practice Management module.

The software is complete and we are in the very final stage of testing the new automated installation routine, which will make updating throughout the year quicker and easier for everyone in the future. As there are many different editions and configurations of Microsoft Windows, it's taken a little longer this year. Needless to say, we've been working around the clock to ensure that we deliver the software this week.

Barring acts of God, we fully anticipate that we will be releasing later today.

Kind regards,

New Taxcalc release....

Having decided to upgrade my TaxCalc software on a Saturday morning, working from home with kids around wanting to play tennis in the sun, I wondered when I’d be ready to put the sweatband on.

The installation was done & ready to go by 10.30am so, nervous of the imminent onslaught by my 11 year old daughter, I’ve spent the last hour ‘busy’ (trembling) in my office. TaxCalc features the ‘Hub’ which on first sight looks to be an extremely powerful and very good practice & client management system. Its network & concurrent user ready with a centralised client database, ‘warehousing’ & data mining tools, reusing information entered in just one application. This will be fantastic news for larger practices especially with the highly configurable user access permissions and new ‘portfolio’ feature.

There is also a new feature to set multiple relationships between clients (this will be fun I can see!).

The mail merge with Word worked very well & it has taken me just a couple of minutes to create a new letter template which was then automatically available across the network. This and the information request questionnaire will certainly save me a lot of time over the next few weeks (fantastic news, more tennis…hurray!).

There is also a very helpful & what seems to be very powerful task & work status reporting feature too which certainly appeals to me.

The new Anti-Money Laundering status and event diary coupled with the TaxCalcs ‘Search & Verify‘ client ID checking service is a blessing.

I use the software on a small home network (2 PCs & a laptop). I was highly impressed with the database discovery service which found & connected to my database quickly without me having to configure any network paths or settings – (fantastic…more tennis…!!)

I’m certain the accounts production system will offer the same speed & flexibility in producing formatted accounts.

Must go……off for a game of tennis :) …….

Any further news on the PM bits?

Has anyone any further news on the new practice management bits now built in to TaxCalc? Thinking of taking the plunge for this years round of tax returns and wonder if for £480 this whole package is likely to be a winner?

I've been using Taxcalc for tax returns in it's current hub form and was nothing but impressed.  I like VT but the lack of a database and central  integration is the only negative having come from an Iris background.  For the record VT is a fantastic product.

However....

I've just trialed Taxcalc accounts and have to say that they are really wowing me now!  I'm scratching around to think of what Iris (which is fantastic but the most expensive around) does that I won't get from using Taxcalc accounts and tax singing together on the same hymn sheet.

I have just renewed VT but have the feeling that Taxcalc is the new champion and will offer what Iris does without sucking us all dry.

PS - PTP accounts is now identical to Iris accounts but the tax side of things is not that great having trialed them plus Taxcalc as a package is half the cost.

Thanks

Steve
