Taxfiler Accounts - TB doesn't balance?

Error message, but it definitely balances!

Hi folks, does anyone use Taxfiler for accounts production, and if so, have you come across this before?

I'm importing a TB from VTT+ so I know it balances. I'm getting an error saying the TB is out by £12k. Yes, I've included all the lines, I've scanned through for any obvious issues. It's a perfect TB and I am baffled and frustrated. Any ideas? I'm also contacting Taxfiler.

Clearly, this has to be for a set of accounts due tomorrow for which the client has requested last minute changes! Always the way, eh?

Hi, I use Taxfiler but have never had that issue. Have only imported from QuickBooks though, not VTT.

Have you checked that your debits and credits are the correct way around? ;-)

Lol. Yes :) Given that it's literally copied and pasted from VT, I can't see how it could have transposed :)

I import TBs from VTT+ quite regularly and have not encountered this problem. Taxfiler support are usually pretty good so hopefuly they will sort you out.

Thanks Tim. Yes, as do I, I've seen it once before but it was a while ago and I can't remember how I got round it :/

It's not doing something like importing a profit line as well?

I have a solution!

"
It's because of the two accounts that have numbers against them - they need to have a description against them as at the moment Taxfiler is ignoring them when mapping - hence the difference."

So I just need to rename my bank accounts. Sorted!

Can you spot the exact difference figure in the TB being imported ?

Adding up the debits and credits and comparing the proof totals might help narrow the field.

Hopefully, it'll be in credits, as there are usually fewer of these.

Export TB from Taxfiler into excel and ensure it matches up with VT

I used to use my own excel template for copying & pasting to Tf but even then it was not 100% reliable and so I ended up checking every figure, making it quicker to manually enter the numbers. A common one was the corp tax charge being put to the liability or visa versa

how much is it out by? if its 1 0r 2 pounds its because of rounding usually. if more then it will depend on whether its a direct link as in QBO or a pasted TB from another program in which case you neeed to check that extra lines are not imported as per other anwser such as Profit for year etc
