Taxfiler v HMRC Import of CSV Files

Taxfiler v HMRC Import of CSV Files

We have today purchased Taxfiler in order to do self assessments. Up to now we have been using  HMRC online filing. We have approx 400 clients. Taxfiler said (although they didn't know how) that you can create CSV files from HMRC website and import into Taxfiler, thereby negating having to fill in all personal details.

Has anyone got any experience of this and if so was it easy. I cant be doing with faffing around for hours as I might as well just set to and enter details

CSV export

HMRC > Active or access online services > SA > Download client list

It'll only give names/UTR's though, don't think you can get much more.

Not much use

It does include your client reference if you've entered it.

The names are not in a workable format - i.e. BLOGGS F MR so would require a fair amount of editing and you'd have to add NI numbers, dates of birth and addresses

To get around the name layout, once the data is in excel use the concatenate function. Copy and paste the columns as values, you will then be able to move the columns into the order you want.
