The Authentication request has failed to submit to Companies House

Authentication request keeps failing

Didn't find your answer?

I have Taxfiler software installed and trying to submit annual accounts to Companies House for a Client and it keeps coming up with 'authorisation failure'. I have my presenter ID and authentication code entered correctly. The Company number and authentication code are also correct.

I therefore, tried direct through Companies House selecting the option 'Full Accounts (with abbreviated option)' which opens up a PDF document. I have validated the signatures but when I go through to the authenticate stage, I get the message 'The Authentication request has failed to submit to Companies House' and again I am definately inputting the correct information.

I have even tried different web browsers just in case that is causing the issue.

I desperately need to get these accounts filed asap as they are well overdue. I am still waiting for the authorisation code for HMRC to file the Corporation Tax Return and wondered if there was a chance that I could select for them to be submitted to Companies House when filing the tax return or am I going to have the same issue.

I have also changed the authentication code for the Company and received confirmation through the post but still i'm having same problems.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as it is getting beyond the point of frustration now!

Can you not just upload the Taxfiler accounts to CH via WebFiling?

Have you checked the name is spelled correctly? I once had a failure (via SAPA) because I had inadvertently put an S in the company name, when I set it up. Took me ages to figure it out!! LOL

At worse, send via overnight post, to ease the pain quickly? I know its not ideal, but it may just be a glitch with that company.

At one time, and I'm not sure if this is still the case, there was an issue with very long company names as the CH software/hardware/whatever could only accept a certain number of characters, so companies with overly lengthy names were rejected.
The other one as mentioned above is spelling. Could be as simple as a missed bracket.

Did you include the leading zero in the company no?That might be a reason for failure. If you still can't find what's wrong ring Cos House and ask to speak to their technical people, or email Taxfiler - whose support is second to none.

If you're desperate, use Webfiling and type the numbers in.

Probably be a lot quicker than sorting it out over the phone. Takes 15-30 minutes, depending on how many notes there are. FRS105 accounts 5 mins - quicker than uploading from your accounting software.

I tried everything! Managed to file directly onto Companies House website as a Micro entity as it qualifies.

Thank you all for your answers though, much appreciated.

In Acrobat, Edit > Preference > Internet > Internet Settings > Advanced - then make sure that "Use TLS 1.0" is ticked.
