Today's a good day

Didn't find your answer?

Some excellent answers on Aweb today. I haven't looked at many threads, but, just on the tax side, on those I have looked at I have appreciated contributions by Paul D Utherone and fawltybasil2575 on this thread https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/any-answers/cgt-on-property-and-the-30-d...(I'd add Richard, but I'm yet to get my head round his answer!) and The Dullard here https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/any-answers/principal-private-residence-...

Thank you.

Yes I do salute many contributors on this forum who I would be lost without. It is admirable some of these esteemed individuals you mention amongst others who take time out of their busy practice to write comprehensive answers just to help other accountants. There is some decent people in this world and think most of them are on this forum.

Wholeheartedly endorsed ... although, perversely, I've always believed that the vast majority of people are essentially decent. It's only the exceptions who unfortunately make so much noise and take so much effort to deal with (or even ignore) ... which is indeed what you sometimes encounter on this site.
My 'philosophy' in life was established when, learning English on arrival in this country as a child, I was given Charles Kingsley's 'The Water Babies' to read ... and decided that one of the characters had a name that summed up all I needed to do in the future - Mrs. Doasyouwouldbedoneby.

I hear you, but it's not actually as bad as that. I was feeling low and those 3 replies lifted me, I wanted to do more than just thank the posters, hence my OP.

Having been lifted, I appreciated respondents en masse all the more. Thanks to the whole lotta yous.

(Incidentally, I'm putting stepurhan forward for the Aweb 2021 Karren Brady harsh-but-fair award.)

Slightly ironic that i clicke3d the first link and got an error page, suggesting the thread has been moved or removed.

So we finally get a good one, and.................

It's a good day for me, as I have just visited my HMRC agent website, PAYE section, to find it has been completely upgraded, and now shows all the information in a far more easily accessible way than previously was the case. This is how it should have been right from the start.

Oh, a whole lot of posts appeared when I posted, what I now realise was, a duplication of Wanderer's comment.

Second comment. Re the first... thank you for the kind words, Wandsy, but you make it sound like I was fishing, when all I was trying to do was.... oh, I guess there's nothing wrong with expressing a bit of mutual appreciation :-)... Maybe makes a nice change in this place?

I think I feel a group hug coming on. (Virtual one, of course.)

Group Hug!!!!

Must be an age thing, or maybe that famed Edinburgh reserve kicking in; congratulations, yes, a hearty handshake, in the right circumstances, using each other's first names, maybe after knowing one another for say five years, a pat on the back, maybe if I was a sandal wearing hippy, but a group hug , that is certainly beyond the pale.

Steady on! You'll land yourself with a £10k fine if you carry on that way.

And today's a good day because I fixed the ever-so-slight wobble in my desk by propping up the offending leg with my Book of Scottish Goalkeeping Heroes.

My home town has had mass hugging events in the past. Maybe they will be possible again in the future.

I'm adding Richard. Not because I now understand, but his follow-up post was... well, "awesome", to quote myself.
