top up of holiday while furlough

how do you calculate the "top up"?

Didn't find your answer?

How do you calculate the top up to 100% for holiday pay while on furlough?

Employees were on flexi furlough in July and were full furlough in June.

June's pay ( full furlough) is higher that July pay ( flexi furlough with holiday). - gross  pay that is.

All my calculations are right apparently, so it leaves me to wonder about holiday.

hence my question...

You are going to need to let us see some figures - or is this your own payslip you are trying to get to grips with?

@Tom123, thanks for helping me.

June, full furlough _ gross was £1642 for period 01.06.20 to 30.06.20

July, flexi furlough, period 01.07.20 to 31.07.20 _furlough is £291, hours worked is £1078, holiday pay top up, calculated using 4o hours at 20% of their rate of pay, comes to £134. Comes to total gross of £1504, which is less than the £1642 in June.

I am starting to think that I have over simplified the holiday calculation top up perhaps?

Where's the rest of the holiday pay....i.e. the 80%?

The employee is entitled to 80% of their usual pay per working day, calculated in the usual way (eg 1/260) for each day on furlough.

They are entitled to 100% of their usual daily rate for each day's holiday.

Whether that matches what you manage to claim on furlough is not the employee's problem.

another sleepless night and I think I know where I went wrong:

What I did regarding their pay:
hours worked @full pay
furlough hours = usual hours - ( hours worked+ holiday)
Holiday hours @ 20%

What I should have done:
hours worked @ full pay
Furlough hours = usual hours - hours worked
Holiday hours @ 20%

I have found the following this morning :
"where an employee is flexibly furloughed, "any hours taken as holiday during the claim period should be counted as furloughed hours rather than working hours"

As an employer can claim the furlough hours AND the holiday at 80%, Am I right at putting the holiday hours at 20%? many thanks in advance
