Transferring practice to Ltd Co - 64-8, DD's etc

Is there a quick way to update HMRC 64-8, direct debits etc when you transfer practice into a Ltd Co

Didn't find your answer?

I am planning to transfer my small sole practitioner practice into a Limited Company and was wondering if there was a quick way to update 64-8 agents authorities with HMRC (for self assessment, PAYE, CT and VAT), to update all direct debits from clients and the Letters of Engagement or is it just the long road of getting every client to renew the authority, DD's and L of E one by one?

I vote long route on everything. I know it’s the case with HMRC

You may get lucky by writing to the agent maintainer regarding CT and SA, but VAT isnt going to happen without a fresh 64-8, they simply dont have a way to update existing details, although somehow they are able to remove old agents and appoint new ones.

Long route on everything but my PA took care of everything by working through a checklist and templates I gave her. If you don't have somebody inhouse yet then it may be worth getting a virtual PA to do this as a project.
Don't forget that insurance and engagement letters also need to be changed over.
