It's at the discretion of employer. Who may not wish to pay the additional bank charges on a non-domestic payment. Or have the additional administrative effort.

Thanks. The administration of such a payment wouldn't be an issue. It was more the legislation surrounding it. But I'm guessing as all UK PAYE commitments have been met, the net sum is free to be sent anywhere?

Guessing is always good.

But Q answered, so why ask it again?

Since OP (no longer anonymously) likes repeating questions, here's an answer to a question not asked (although maybe it should have been) ...

The employer is responsible for ensuring that payment is made to the employee (as otherwise there has been an illegal deduction from wages). This is fairly easy to prove within the UK banking system, but cannot always be assured with overseas accounts (especially if the bank has no presence over here). So, as well as taking on additional admin burden/costs, the employer is potentially open to other liabilities if doing what is suggested.

There is nothing automatically illegal in "UK PAYE employee choosing to have their funds paid in to a non-UK bank account", but if I were the employer I wouldn't be keen to assist ... after all there's no reason why the employee (having been paid via a UK account) can't transfer funds to wherever he/she chooses.
