Uniform tax relief

Didn't find your answer?

Hi there
I have a new client who has 2 self employed jobs and is also self employed v cis he has to wear a uniform for each one
Can he claim the laundry tax relief of £60 for each job ?
Many thanks

Don't think so

My understanding is that this tax relief is for employed persons only where the employer supplies the uniform and the employee has to launder it.

I am self-employed and if one of my clients expected me to wear one of their uniforms when I was on site

a) I wouldn't be very happy about it (as I am not an employee) and

b) I would increase my fees to allow for the laundering (assuming I agreed to wear it)
