So all the talk is about MTD and VAT.... How about Universal Credits?
I have a sole trader client who has just been transferred from Tax Credits to Universal Credits and like most sole traders do their accounts once a year. They now have to submit income and expenses every month DWP otherwise their payments will stop. Of course we can assist them in setting up a simple system for them and going forward it will enable them to collate their year end figures quickly. But my question is with all the talk of MTD why has this not been highlighted? Surely this is a backdoor way of MTD for the self employed on benefits.... How many are affected by this?
Has anyone else had dealings with Universal Credits?
