UPDATES ON JOB SUPPORT SCHEME (NIL)

Still no guidance on JSS

Didn't find your answer?

This is a response from the Production Development manager of my payroll provider. I was wondering if they knew more on JSS as they will have to update software.

"HMRC have published absolutely nothing since their 24th September update --- so nearly a month without any further guidance. So we are going blind as much as anyone else - We await further guidance"

Im firmly convinced they have no idea themselves. Or they are working on some nerdy scheme we wont have a clue what they are on about. Even more complicated than the Flexi calculation Dont forget Furlough was  easy by comparison. It involved a tax year basically for calculations. This time people have returned from Furlough, Gone back again, Gone on to Flexi. Working full time, Started in a job. Not so straightforward - especially for variable pay. Difficult to make a "one size fits all" calculation.

The problem for me is that the whole situation has changed since 24th September.

JSS doesn't really fit the bill at all if we go back to some kind of lockdown. What use is a relief for folk who work a third of the time if their business is closed down ? Or their suppliers ?

Breweries are topical on the forum - there was a fella from Kelham Island on ttelly this morning saying they'd need to close down if Sheffield moved into Tier 3, with (as yet) not a pennorth of support from anyone.

I agree. The whole scheme now needs to be revisited to bring in something simpler that can be acted on immeduately. Firms going into T3 have no warning. Forget this 33% working scenario
