Using HMRCs PAYE software but will be employing 10 staff for a week or two

Using HMRCs PAYE software but will be employing...

Didn't find your answer?

I've got a client for whom I do payroll. I use HMRC's PAYE software because I don't do much payroll work. Because my client has been busy this week with Christmas, he has employed a previous employee who left to go to Uni, but is back for the holidays. This has resulted in him employing 10 employees this week. It is likely to go back to 9 next week. HMRC's software only deals with a maximum of 9 staff. The additional member of staff won't be incurring any tax or NI.

I'd rather not buy software that I'll probably only need for a week or two, so I was wondering if anyone knows of a way around this?

Try first

I think you will find that it will cope - it isn't published but won't fall over. Try adding a new employee and doing a dry run without submitting.

If I am wrong Iris do a free version for 10 called Payroll Basics

It appears to deal with more than 9 employees

I processed and submitted the payroll last week for 10 employees and the submission was accepted.

This week I have a warning message that the maximum number of employees allowed is 15!

Strange.
