Using IRIS in the cloud

Does anyone else use IRIS in the cloud without using their hosted package?

Didn't find your answer?

Our server is old and slowing down. We currently use IRIS on the server - up to ten users locally - with MS office etc in the cloud. Plus of course Xero etc.

For various reasons I don't want to use IRIS's hosting package.

What do other people do who use IRIS? Have you had issues with a slowdown and if so, how did you solve it?

We're looking at going onto Azure but interested to know if anyone else had issues with IRIS being really slow and if putting it onto a hosted server solved it.

I have had to have the IRIS hosted server removed as it caused havoc with my computer. It got removed last week. I have a C and a D Drive. The hosted server created another drive and I was constantly having to flip between them.

"Iris in the Cloud" sounds like a track from Sgt Pepper

We use the Iris hosted desktop solution for 13 users. In general, it has worked very well. We have had the odd issue where it has been slow but is has been resolved where, presumably, more resource was allocated to us.

The only significant issue has been the inability to get Sage Line 50 to work on the desktop so we have to run that locally.

Video conferencing such as Zoom or Teams also has to be run locally but that is not an issue once you get used to it.

Sorry, just realised I misread the original post.

If you want a different hosting solution, try Simon Luck at https://hostmyoffice.co.uk/

He has hosted Iris clients.

We used to run Iris on Hosted desktop and that was fine.

We moved to Key Computers when we changed software and have found them very good - Sage runs too!

You can definitely run Iris in other hosted environments. Disclaimer: that is what our company does. Hosts other software for clients and have been doing that for over 11 years.

You can also have all your other software installed and running in the same environment.

Also with the right solution from Azure you can have Microsoft Teams as well.

I should have also added that your Internet connection has to be reliable and capable of supporting the number of users you have.
