VAT and Online Market Place Selling

EU VAT registration requirements if selling via Ebay

Didn't find your answer?

Brexit/EU trading the (Unwanted) gift that keeps on giving.

With the new rules and regulations coming in from 01/07/2021 in respect of online market place selling and IOSS, I've had a question posed to me from a client. They asked if they decide to only sell via the online market place (EBAY), does this remove their obligation to register for EU VAT if their EU B2C sales are above €10,000. Ebay have stated that they will account for EU VAT and pay to the relevant EU country using their IOSS.

Correct, if only selling via an online marketplace, then the online marketplace is responsible for charging/collecting VAT. This assumes the goods are not in the EU at time of sale.
