A client made an error on their MTD vat submission and sent the incorrect figures for us to submit via the bridging software. This meant that what should have been a small refund was filed as VAT being due.
A 652 form was filed straight away (a month ago) and now the client has recieved a letter chasing the VAT. On phoning up I have been told that the wait time to process error claims is 21 weeks and they can't put a note on the file to stop the chasing letters. On asking why it was so long I was informed that their are a lot of error forms going in at the moment.
This has confused me as I would have thought htey should be sitting around twiddling their thumbs given MTD removing all errors from the VAT sytstem.
Anyone any ideas how to stop HMRC chasing up a payment that isn't due - they have suggested calling the time to pay line - and I am hold to them 15 minutes and still not through.
